Dear 49ers,

Dear 49ers,
I haven't ask much from you this season. I haven't expected much from you this season. I haven't expected much from you in the past 4 seasons. But that isn't important right now. What is important is that we are in one of the worst divisions right now. What is also important is that Arizona is losing. We can get first place in the NFC west. If we lose today we lose all hope. No first place chance and we are too far behind for Wildcard. I know that Arizona is playing the Rams, and we are playing the Jets, but that isn't important. We have to win. That is it.

So please win. Give you fan base a glimmer of hope. Be Barack Obama. Bring change.

Don't let me down.

Your Loyal Fan,

Francisco Enrique Gonzalez

November 5th

I really want it to be November 5th. I want it so I can finally stop seeing and hearing people talk about Obama/McCain/Gay Marriage/Abortion/Clean Energy/Animal Rights. It is so annoying. It was interesting at first, but now I am tired of being told to vote Yes or No. What I vote for is none of your business.

I am just tired. I am going to vote in my first presidental election, and I am not even voting for a major candidate.

I had a nightmare 2 nights ago. I kept seeing yes signs and no signs with different't numbers everywhere. It was scary.

I want this to be over. It really is too much to handle.

I Almost Died...

Well not really. Here's the story.

Last night I got a text from one of my friends Jared around 10pm asking me if me and my roommates wanted to go to Westwood and Hookah.
We would be meeting another one of my friends Shoshie there. If you don't know the LA area, Westwood is where the UCLA campus is located. It is about 5-10 miles away from Santa Monica and is over all a good looking area. I am the only one of my roommates that decided to go. Maybe they subconciously knew the hidden dangers of a demographic that has a mean income of $114K a year.

Jared showed up at my place around 10:30 and we left at 11. We talked about girls and other things you'd expect two college guys to talk about. The traffic was light so we get there in about 20 minutes. We call Shoshie right when we get of the 405 and she gives us directions to the location. We find her standing in the parking spot and we park.
It's about a two block walk to the hookah place so we start talking and catching up on random things.

As we turn the corner we have the hookah place in sight. We are about 40 yards away when we hear BAM BAM BAM!!! At first we believe the sound to be fire crackers. I jokingly say "Yeah it's probably just firecrackers... Or someone shooting someone." We laugh and continue to walk towards the hookah place, we make it 10 more yards when we hear BAM BAM BAM again. I stop walking for a second while Jared and Shoshie continue forward slowly. Then it seemed like all hell broke loose for a second.

BAM BAM BAM!!! people started running. I was 4-5 people behind Jared and Shoshie when they ran inside a building. I could get to the building at first so I ducked behind a brick wall. I hear BAM BAM BAM again then Shoshie yell "Where's Francisco!?" I ran back out from the wall into the building where my friends where hiding.

We kept hearing gun shots for the next few minutes until we finally saw our saving grace. One man in blue slowly advancing to a man with 5 handguns. (We later found out the man was surrounded, but from our angle we only saw the one cop). Then all I heard was a taser gun, then a stunned body hit the floor. The crowd erupts in applause, praising the same people they curse when they get a speeding ticket. I stand in silence to appreciate the sweet irony that just saved us from a crazed man.

I never actually saw the guy, but I found out we we're only 10-15 yards away from him. There was only a van in the way of him and us. We also found out that he was shooting at a street light and the buildings, so luckily no one was hurt. It was a miracle that no one was hurt.

So after that we enjoyed a nice relaxing hookah on a blocked off street that is now considered a crime scene. Oh how I love SoCal.

Why Idaho Sucks

I've never liked Idaho.

I've been to about ten states in the USA. And 9 out of ten of them are amazing. They are states that make people want to come and live in this country. But if anyone started a trip into the United States in Idaho, they would run strait to Canada. Idaho is the worst state in the union. Need proof? Watch Napoleon Dynamite.

But now, Idaho sent a man to 18 months of federal prison for saving his town from flooding.

Lynn Moses will be locked up in federal prison next Wednesday. His crime? Protecting the city of Driggs, Idaho from flooding.

When Mr. Moses began to develop a subdivision along Teton Creek in 1980, Teton County required him to implement an engineer’s plan to modify the Teton Creek stream bed to prevent the flooding of subdivision property, caused by the buildup of gravel bars and downed trees, during high water flows in the spring...

...the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), emboldened by newly granted bureaucratic authority, jumped in and went right after Mr. Moses, indicting and prosecuting him for violating the Clean Water Act in the years 2002, 2003 and 2004 for doing nothing more than the routine maintenance on the channel he had been doing for 20 years, under requirements imposed by local government.

Presiding federal judge Lynn Winmill, who has a well-deserved reputation for judicial activism, refused to allow Teton County commissioners to testify to the original agreement, nor would he allow the aggressive Corps staffer to testify about the refusal of the U.S. Attorney to prosecute in the mid-90s.

Before the jury was dismissed to enter into deliberations at the conclusion of his trial, Judge Lynn Winmill instructed the jury, believe it or not, to disregard every bit of information from 1980 to 2002, including the Corps’ denial of jurisdiction and the mandate from local government for Mr. Moses to maintain the flood channel.

This is absolute bullshit. This man was contracted to stop flooding in the town in which he lives, and the government thanks him with an all expense tax-paid trip to federal prison.

Thank you government. I feel so safe that this man is behind bars. Oh and if you want Idaho, my grandma has been paying her taxes, I think that maybe you should give her a few years in the slammer too.

Bullshit.

RIP Craig and Michele Wilson

This is from the San Francisco Chronicle.

Oakley official, 3 others die in plane crash

Four Oakley residents, including a candidate for Contra Costa County supervisor, are missing and presumed dead after a single-engine plane crash outside Las Vegas Saturday afternoon.

Family, friends and colleagues of Erik Nunn, chairman of the Oakley Planning Commission and a candidate for District 5 supervisor, and his wife Tanya mourned the couple at their home Sunday after news that Nunn's single-engine Piper Cherokee plane had crashed in flames.

The couple had flown to Las Vegas on Thursday to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary, along with their neighbors Michele and Craig Wilson, who were also celebrating an anniversary, said James Frazier, a friend and fellow planning commissioner.

They were due to return to Byron Airport about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, said Frazier, and when they didn't arrive as expected, relatives called airport officials and learned of the crash.

A Piper Cherokee that left North Las Vegas airport bound for Byron crashed on Mount Charleston, 40 miles northwest of Las Vegas about 2:45 p.m. after striking power lines, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor. The plane burned after crashing and all four passengers were killed, Gregor said.

Authorities did not immediately release the names of the dead. Frazier said authorities were planning to use dental records to confirm the identities.

The crash is under investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board, Gregor said.

The burning plane sparked a wildfire in Nevada that burned 12 acres of dry brush and trees and threatened nearly 40 homes, Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Kirsten Cannon told the Associated Press.

The Nunns leave behind four children, Elorah, Nikolette, Tezianna and Ethan, who range in age from 4 to 9, friends said. The Wilsons - he was a BART police officer and she was a flight attendant - leave three children roughly between the ages of 3 and 14, Frazier said. All the children are being cared for by their grandparents, he said.

Erik Nunn, 37, grew up in Brentwood, served in the Marines and received a bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College in Moraga, according to his campaign Web site. He was a pastor with New Lifeline Ministries Church and led church trips to Mexico to build houses, the Web site said.

Nunn worked as an engineering firm executive and ran unsuccessfully for supervisor in 2004. He was appointed to the planning board in 2005 and in June came in second in a five-way race for supervisor. That put him into a runoff election with incumbent Federal Glover. It was not immediately clear how Nunn's death would affect the election, which is scheduled for November.

Colleagues on the Oakley Planning Commission spoke highly of Nunn's enthusiasm and integrity.

"It's a huge loss," said Iris Obregon, another commissioner. "He's an authentic person who's very passionate about his community. He was a very compassionate leader."

"He cared very deeply about Oakley and the people," said Commissioner David Huerta, who was working on Nunn's election campaign. "He was a good man to work with. He could listen, and our exchanges were always cordial. Even if we disagreed, there was no acrimony at all."

Huerta said Nunn decided to run for supervisor because he felt eastern Contra Costa County didn't have the political clout it deserved. He added that Tanya Nunn was actively involved in the campaign, frequently staffing the phone bank.

"She was a little shy but a very warm and caring person," Huerta said.

Commissioner Ed Person praised Nunn as an impassioned public servant and added that he was a conscientious airplane pilot.

"I've flown in the plane with him a couple of times, and he's pretty thorough in his flight plan," Person said. "He would always look for points of interest, roads and flat surfaces in case he needed to land. I understand there was a road very close to the crash. It's possible he could have been attempting to land on that road and clipped the power lines."

Frazier said he was still in shock at the news of the accident, but spent Saturday night with the Nunn family and much of Sunday notifying city officials of Nunn's death.

Oakley City Council members plan to establish accounts at Bank of the West today for the seven orphaned children in the Nunn and Wilson families, he said. Details will be posted on the city's Web site.

"I'd really like people to reach out and give these kids a helping hand. They're going to need it, and I'm not leaving them," Frazier said through tears. "It's times like this when I know the community comes together and helps. Erik was respected by all."

Craig and Michele were neighbors and good friends to my family. My sister has baby sat for them, I've paint a fence for them, my little brother and sister are best friends with their kids. Their son Ryan was on the same baseball team as my brother. My family was very close with them.

I honestly am having the hardest time trying to find words to say. They were good people and I am having a hard time realizing they are gone. Dare I say it, it makes me question my faith. They were only in their mid-30's with 3 kids. Craig told me once about his retirement plan! I don't know right now how God could this. (And by the way, don't leave comments saying God has a plan for this. I understand everything happens for a reason. You don't have to remind me of that).

This is a real tragedy, and I wont forget this for a while. Please keep their children in your prayers. And I will keep you posted on when they announce how you can donate to their children and if there is anything we can do to help.

Rest in Peace Craig, Michele, Erik, and Tanya.

Say Anything

So recently I went to the Max Bemis Acoustic show last Sunday. For those of you who don't know who Max Bemis is, he is the lead singer of a little band called Say Anything. It was great. During the performance Max performed a new Say Anything song called "Ahh, Men". It was the coolest experience. Here is the video.

Here are the lyrics. Read along.

Staring out the window of our tour bus
And it’s just the horny driver and us
We sit and trade wit and smoking weed cause
Talking ‘bout our friendly border drug bust
And I know their future’s cloudy and gray
Record like mine give up or go gay
You’re looking down at me with blue and black eyes
Spitting down a storm from purple night skies

Uh huh
(4 times)

And I know the concept’s muddy and tried
And all that is large and all that is slight
Is flowing in a stream of holy flood lights
I’ve read the holy books Lord knows they bite
But if this is your will and my testament
I will bow to no belief that they vent
Still I’m just a sperm began from your love
Basking in the bread and the blood of one dove

Uh huh
(4 times)

Can I lie with you in your grave?
(repeat)

There’s a crack in the edge of the end of the world
Where I will sit with my love in this florescent swirl
Feel yourself breaking down to the tiniest cell
In a room with a view and a window to hell
Where the room with the bodies will display what they’ve done
And march through museums the repel what they’ve done
And shot up through the sky by a cannon of sin
Were reluctantly let them in so can I lie in your
Crack in the edge of the end of the world
Where I will sit with my love in this florescent swirl
Feel yourself breaking down to the tiniest cell
In a room with a view and a window to hell
With those who bury bodies in their barrel of fun
Will sit in ideas and regret what they’ve done
Shot up in the sky by a cannon of sin
Were reluctantly let them in so can I lie in your grave
